About Emily

Emily Gayeski-Freedman brings a wealth of expertise and a dynamic background to her role as a physical therapist at SerendiPT NYC. A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Hunter College, Emily earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Hunter College and has been a New York State Board-Certified Physical Therapist since 2018. She achieved recognition as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2023, demonstrating her advanced proficiency in orthopedic care.

Emily is an Advanced Schroth Therapist, having trained in person under the esteemed Hagit Berdishevsky through the Schroth-based Scoliosis & Spine Online Learning (SSOL) program. With 25 years of experience as a Pilates instructor and 18 years as a semi-professional dancer in New York City, Emily integrates her deep understanding of movement, alignment, and body mechanics into her practice.

Her clinical experience spans multiple disciplines, including acute orthopedic post-operative care at NYU Brooklyn, adult inpatient neurological rehabilitation at Rusk Rehabilitation, and outpatient orthopedic care at Mount Sinai. Prior to joining SerendiPT NYC, Emily served as Clinical Director at Cynergy Physical Therapy, managing a full caseload while mentoring and leading her team.

A lifelong mover, Emily knows the frustration of injury and the mental and physical resilience—and patience—required for recovery. Drawing from her own physical practice, she brings a deep awareness of movement, whether targeting a single joint or coordinating the whole body, to her work with patients. Acknowledging that everyone learns differently, she enjoys incorporating humor and nuance into her cues, fostering a supportive and engaging atmosphere for healing.

Emily’s treatment philosophy combines manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and a keen eye for detail developed through her Pilates and dance background. She prioritizes patient education, individualized goal-setting, and creating an approachable clinical environment to empower patients in their recovery process.

She has pursued extensive post-graduate training with the North American Institute of Manual Therapy, the Institute of Physical Art, and Fascial Counterstrain through the Jones Institute, ensuring she remains at the forefront of evidence-based care. A proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Emily is dedicated to advancing the field of physical therapy and helping patients of all ages and abilities return to doing what they love.
